The checkerboard pattern with checkered motifs on the entire surface is unique to Ako Dantsu rug, which has been made since the Meiji era (late 19th.).
There are many examples of works in which swastikas and cross are arranged alternately on a single color of indigo ground, but this one has a rare yin-yang Tai Chi and cross pattern.
On the soft light brown ground, the greenish indigo and the white flower chestnuts are arranged rhythmically. This rug has an old-fashioned look and modern impression.
